Mood: jubilant

so i just got a call from some of my friends in the oregon marching band and this happened at the civil war game today:

a girl in the OSU student section came and threw white paint on the U of O band. the paint got on a bunch of trombone and flute players. the girl got arrested by the sheriffs. she was charged with an mip, criminal mischief 2, and disorderly conduct. AND her mom had to pick her up from the jail. AND she has to pay to have all the oregon marching band uniforms cleaned/replaced (if the paint doesnt come out). HA BITCH!

best part is, her team lost anyway.

GO DUCKS!!!

ive been at camp for 2 months now and it seems like time is flying! i have never had this much fun at camp before. straight up. being an adventure specialist is what i was made to do! every day i wake up excited to get up and run an amazing program in the middle of the mountains. ugh, i wish i could transport this job to arrowhead because i would be there in a second!

we just had the long break for 4th of july and kyle flew out to visit me for a couple days. pretty damn awesome. we didn't do anything too exciting; we went to the new belgium brewery, hiked, went for a horseback ride and i took him to climb a little bit. not too much activity because i'm still recovering from my little accident.

for those of you who don't know, about 3 weeks ago i got the toenail of my big toe ripped off. it was a shitty accident but it was also pretty sweet because i got my first trip to the emergency room. i also got to be a "top priority" there and so i didn't even have to wait to see a doctor and get x-rayeD/stiched and everything. it looked SICK! (and still kind of does)

regardless, i'm on the mend and back to work. i'm not allowed to hike more than a mile but i can climb again and thats all i care about :) luckily i'll be all recovered and able to hike in another 2 weeks when we take a unit backpacking. awesome timing!
if anyone gets bored send me snail mail! it's fun and i'll write you back with pretty paper!...yup, i'm that nerdy! yay!

a tornado blew through my part of colorado today. it was actually kind of cool because we were in the middle of the most intense lightning storm of my life last night at 3am, and then today (while i was at archery certification in boulder) the tornado went through the highway we use to get back to camp. our camp lost power for about 3 hours but everyone was safe.

i'm exhausted from the amount of work i've been doing. its really hard to be working hard down here and having to worry about work in eugene at the same time. though, i did get to take a 4 day road trip consisting of 6 places:
1. moab (climbing mecca...located in utah)
2. arches national park (more climbing)
3. the grand canyon!
4. hoover dam
5. las vegas (to hang out with marc)
6. back to denver...then up to camp

i think the road trip wore me out more than all the climbing training ive been doing.

oh well, things are so exciting here so i think the exhaustion is worth it. we still have half of the climbing wall to set up, a bunch of elements on the high ropes to put up, a top rope to set up for climbing near the lake, the archery range (everything), and we need to hike the backpacking trip we're taking a unit (and trail clear for it). lots to do in the next week. WHOO!!! busy busy busy.

i'm finally in colorado!

on tuesday i woke up for our first day of high ropes training and it was SNOWING! freaking SNOW!
there are about 10 people in the training and they're all great fun. only four girls, but we all kick ass ;)
luckily we've finally started climbing things and i am SO happy! I think the crappy weather is following me though.

i already miss kyle (YES i'm a girl!) and i'm getting more and more excited to see him in july. i honestly don't think i could have a more amazing person in my life. end.

anyway, this weekend dusty and i are road tripping to moab for a little climbing, the grand canyon for a little camping, and then to vegas on the way home so she can see her cousin and i can see MARC! all in four days. i think we're biting off more than we can chew, but who cares.

i'll be up at camp next week to set up the climbing wall so everyone can start to expect postcards and lame little pieces of snail mail. i love writing letters (when i have time) during the summer so write me!

Mood: frustrated

there is really nothing more frustrating than having to work early in the morning, but not being able to sleep.
ive been lying in bed for 3 fucking hours!

i guess i could update...

i leave for colorado in 4 weeks. i'm excited because i get to be an adventure specialist and hang out on the high ropes course all day but i'm bummed that i have to leave kyle for 3 months :(
things with him are going really well and i couldnt be happier! since i'm going to be away for so long, he's going to come visit me for the 4th of july break (since he'll have a short break from teaching). i havent even left yet and i'm already excited to see him there :)

when i get back from colorado in august, i got offered a full time position at the YMCA with a whole slew of new responsibilities and fun things. i'm nervous but really excited about it. all in all work is fantastic too.

there's my current life...summed up!

okay, back to attempting to sleep...

Mood: hopeful

lent started on wednesday and i decided that i'm going to give up two things:
1. soda (which i rarely drink, but have been consuming more often lately)
2. swearing

i tried the no soda thing my freshman year in the dorms and it kept me off soda for a couple years! and kyle is an avid mountain dew fan, and he is giving up soda with me :)
i also tried the swearing thing for lent two years ago and it helped me be more aware of my language, so why not do it again?
what's strange is that i never use ANY inappropriate language at work (not even crap or damn). i have an internal "work mode" i guess. here's hoping i can make "work mode" my primary mode.

when i heard that heath ledger died, i immediately called my sister to tell her. it's so weird. he's the last person i'd expect to die young. luckily, the sad call turned into a long and lovely conversation with my sister :) from death, comes gratitude for people you love.

in other news, i met kyle's parents this weekend! they are really cool and i think he's exactly like his dad. if i were about 30 years older...KIDDING! anyway, we hung out for a while, unpacking some boxes of stuff for kyle's house and hanging out, then they took us out to track town, which i have never been to before. i hear all the hype about "oooo...track town has the best pizza ever...blah blah blah." turns out, TRACK TOWN HAS THE BEST PIZZA EVER!!! BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!
i wish i would have figured this out about 5 years ago! and speaking of pizza...

...chuck-e-cheese will be hosting a large group of twenty-something kids celebrating KATIE GREENE'S 23rd birthday this weekend! i am so excited for this it's not even funny. i told some of my kids at work about it, and they told me there are no ball pits there anymore! what the holy fuck!?! apparently it's just a big arcade (which is still cool) but the only thing you can crawl on or play in is a small tube structure in the corner of the place. weak! i'm still playing in it! yes, i plan on bitch slapping 7 year olds out of my way. And i will sing happy birthday with a big animatronic rat. (or is he a mouse?)

i'm so bored of this oregon "snow for a little bit, stick, then immediately melt" crap. I WANT A FUCKING SNOW DAY!...or maybe an ice storm!
either way, the power needs to go out for at least a day. as long as my laptop battery is full!

dear friends,
if anyone has a snow machine call me asap. i will offer shitty vodka, cookies, a unicorn, or sexual favors as payment.
hugs and loves,
heidi

yesterday kyle and i went to get a christmas tree and today keir is going to come home so we can decorate it! i love the holidays! i think i have to watch the movie "elf" in the very near future.

For the first time in 9 years i did not march on autzen turf at the festival of bands. it was painful, awkward, depressing, exciting, fun, and full of nostalgia.
i took lots of pictures of random bands at random impacts just because i could, watched the OMB from the press box, spent finals being ridiculous in the stadium club, and went wherever i wanted, whenever i wanted. it was so great/sad!

basically: i love band and am going to miss marching after being consumed by it for 8 years of my life )
okay, enough nostalgia about me missing stupid band stuff.

the best part of the day was getting to see lots of people i love and hanging out with them! all in all it was a perfect kind of day...followed by a perfect kind of night; going out with friends.

THANK GOODNESS that we have this etiquette book! otherwise, keir and i would be such heathens!

oh yeah, and my favorite...which we ALWAYS obey...

so i decided that i needed to go hiking on saturday, so wendy and i drove up to camp arrowhead to say hi to cougar and the ranger family and hike wind mountain. i'd forgotten how beautiful it was at the top!...i really missed wind and dog this summer.

also, warped tour rocked my world! not only did i get to see kick ass bands, but i randomly ran into my cousin in the middle of a mosh pit during the flogging mollly set! i love when things like that happen!!!

this is what we call a perfect weekend.

I'm back from Colorado and it was absolutely incredible! i dealt with a lot of stupid shit because the camp director didn't do her job, but i met amazing people and had sooooo much fun living in a new place for a few months! i decided that if i marry any state, it will definitely be Colorado.

being in Eugene again is like a sigh of relief. i really missed the city, and especially missed all the people i love. the best part is that i don't have work for a few more weeks so i get to hang out and play with no responsibilities! sweet!

although, i did get a call from my boss at work and instead of me taking over a new position at work in two months, she wants me to be a site director for one of the elementary schools starting the end of this month. I'm a little freaked out because it's a big transition and a huge step up for me and i don't know who will be working under me yet, but at the same time I'm excited for the new opportunity. i suppose im also a little disappointed because i wont be working with my same kids from last year.

either way, i'm out and about in oregon so everyone should call me if we haven't hung out yet!
